It would be no exaggeration to say that this stay was the best among all the Hotels I have ever stayed at. Above all, the cuisine was truly outstanding—an experience that felt like “heaven.” The variety of dishes was impressive, and each ingredient freshly sourced from Amakusa was carefully and deliciously prepared. I was moved throughout the entire meal. When serving each dish, the staff also shared stories about the ingredients and wine, which made it especially enjoyable—not just eating, but appreciating the background as well. Everything was delicious, but what stood out most were the sushi with Amakusa kuruma prawns and Amakusa ishigaki sea bream, and the steak made with Amakusa black beef loin. Each dish brought out the best of its ingredients, and in particular, the steak had such concentrated flavor that it became an unforgettable plate. At breakfast, both “Kumasan no Kagayaki” rice and Tamango egg-over-rice were also incredibly delicious—I was impressed from first thing in the morning. The service was excellent as well. The staff’s warm and attentive hospitality left a strong impression. Everyone—including those in the kitchen—greeted us pleasantly, and thoughtful care could be felt everywhere. The Room was a villa type with each unit separate, so we hardly encountered other guests at all. We were able to relax in a private space at our own pace. From welcome drinks to checkout, every moment felt special—it was a truly fulfilling stay. This is a wonderful Accommodation that I would love to visit again.

We stayed here on the final day of a 3-night, 4-day long-distance road trip from Fukuoka through Hiroshima, Shimane, and Yamaguchi. From the moment we arrived, the staff’s thoughtful, guest-focused hospitality made us feel warmly welcomed and truly comfortable. The Room we were shown was very spacious, and everything—from the bed to each amenity—was high quality, leaving us extremely satisfied. That day, the view from the balcony was breathtaking, and soaking in the open-air bath while looking at cherry blossoms in full bloom soothed our fatigue from the long drive. This is a place we would definitely love to stay at again—Bettei Otozure!

Although the building was old, it was kept very clean, so we had a comfortable stay. After enjoying sightseeing at Amanohashidate, we took a bath and enjoyed delicious crab dishes until we were full—very satisfying. We also appreciated the Ryokan owner’s perfectly balanced hospitality—attentive without being intrusive. Next time, we will visit again with our daughter who loves crab.

This was the first Hotel where we could enjoy sunrise, sunset, and the night view over the peninsula from our Room. On top of that, the staff’s thoughtfulness was reflected in everything—the spotless cleanliness of the Room, the variety and arrangement of amenities, and even the selection of drinks in the refrigerator. It was simply outstanding. Communicating with the staff and manager was truly comforting, and they were so considerate with the Shuttle Service that we almost felt bad. Even a small comment would be met with “How about this?” as they did everything possible beyond any manual—so much so that we felt we shouldn’t casually mention anything. When we told them it was to celebrate our daughter’s graduation and new job, they created unforgettable memories for us with a handmade bouquet and a champagne toast. Our daughter kept saying to both the staff—and even on our flight home—that she would work hard and definitely come back again. It seems this Accommodation has become a goal for her. There is still so much more I can’t fit here, but among all the Hotels we have stayed at, this became our very best Accommodation. It was a warm place where you could truly feel everyone working together to think about how to make guests happy. Thank you very much. We will be back again.

The cuisine, hospitality, and Facility were all outstanding. Meals in particular were wonderful. Each dish was carefully prepared using local ingredients, and I couldn’t wait for the next course to arrive. The staff who served the meals also gave helpful advice on drinks and provided thorough explanations of each dish, so I was able to enjoy dining at a relaxed pace even as a solo female traveler. Breakfast was delicious as well. If I have the chance to visit Izumo again, I would definitely like to stay here again.

My long-held wish to stay here during cherry blossom season finally came true. The cherry blossoms right in front of me were soothing, and I was moved by the beautifully illuminated garden and the moonlit night. The host and all the staff were wonderful—warm, attentive, and made my stay very comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, featuring plenty of seafood. (They kindly made rice with conger eel that I couldn’t finish into rice balls, which I enjoyed later as a tasty late-night snack.) This is a truly wonderful Accommodation that I would love to visit again in another season.

Extending our trip to Shodoshima was absolutely worth it—this was an Accommodation that truly made us glad we came. Of course, the Room was spacious with no sense of confinement, and it was clean and comfortable. Beyond that, the calm sea stretching out beyond the window felt wonderfully refreshing, and we enjoyed the soothing sound of the waves and seabirds. The private baths (both indoor and outdoor) were relaxing, and after bathing several kinds of drinks are offered as a complimentary service. The olive kaiseki dinner, served over nearly two hours, features carefully prepared seafood from Shodoshima and nearby waters along with meat, vegetables, fruit, and more—beautifully presented on elegant tableware—and each dish can be enjoyed with Shodoshima-produced olive oil. Sitting side by side at sea-facing seats while taking in the view with our meal and wine was outstanding. It was also nice that there was no music or unnecessary noise. The menu is designed to be flipped page by page for each dish—a small touch that adds to the enjoyment. Breakfast also offers a wide variety of items. Once you taste it, you can tell quality ingredients are being used throughout. We joined an evening tour of about an hour to visit Goishiyama (the second sacred site on Shodoshima). On the round-trip microbus ride, we were given explanations about Shodoshima’s industries and history, which deepened our understanding of the island. The night view from Goishiyama left a strong impression. With warm hospitality and pleasant service—and an experience that lets you fully enjoy Shodoshima—this is an Accommodation we came to love.

The Room and meals were wonderful, and it was quiet, so we could relax and take our time. A friend came from Tokyo, and her husband found this Accommodation for us. This is an Accommodation where we truly want to stay again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

We stayed as a family of four with my parents and our 2-year-old toy poodle. The room was convenient and allowed us to enjoy a relaxing stay. The staff were friendly and made our experience pleasant. Additionally, there was a walking path right next to the hotel, which was very convenient! It was an accommodation we would love to visit again.

This was our first stay. The Room was spacious and clean, and the kids were thrilled. There was more crab than we could finish, and the private dining Room was also spacious, so even after the kids were full, they could relax comfortably. Breakfast was delicious as well. The kids had a Western-style meal with a choice of bread, and the service was excellent—it’s easy to see why so many guests return. We would love to come again next year.

Having a free-flowing natural Onsen in the Room that you can enjoy 24 hours a day is truly luxurious. The night we stayed, we experienced torrential rain and thunder for the first time and felt the power of the Aso mountains, yet even then we could hear bush warblers singing. It was a trip where we fully enjoyed nature. The hosts were wonderful people, and I understand why this Accommodation is so hard to book. Breakfast was generous, and above all, every dish was delicious—another highlight of our stay. We would love to stay again if we have the chance.

We stayed as a family of three on Monday, March 23, 2026. We had stayed in Kirishima before, but after hearing in a Review that the baths were wonderful, we chose this Accommodation for the first time. We were amazed at how beautifully Sakurajima could be seen from Kirishima. From the main building’s open-air bath, we could also see Sakurajima at sunset—an excellent soak. One family member has difficulty walking, so we gave up our reserved private bath “Akamatsu-no-Yu” and switched to a private bath inside the main building instead; it was a semi-open-air bath and very relaxing. The design of the bath was tasteful, and since it was cherry blossom season, we enjoyed fully blooming sakura while listening to Japanese bush warblers—we went in twice. The meals were delicious and very satisfying. This has become one of the Accommodations we would like to visit again.

First of all, we were extremely satisfied with our stay. We stayed as a couple for one night and two days. Since there are only a few Rooms, it was quiet with few other guests, and the private open-air bath in the guest Room was spacious enough for two. The ocean view from the Room felt a bit distant, but we still enjoyed a wonderful panoramic view. Above all, the meals were delicious. We tried creative Asian cuisine for the first time, and everything—the taste, portion size, and presentation—was excellent; we would honestly come back just for the food alone. Because meals are served in-room, we could dine slowly in a peaceful setting and enjoy conversation together. The staff were very kind and attentive, making our time truly comfortable. We can’t thank you enough. Overall, we felt the pricing was very reasonable, making it easy to return again and again without hesitation. We had a wonderful time and felt refreshed. We would recommend this Accommodation to family and friends as well. Thank you very much.

I stayed at Kotei Soka for a three-night Multiple Night Stay. Overall, it was an extremely comfortable stay and a wonderful Accommodation that I would love to visit again. [What I liked] An unforgettable crab dinner: The crab dishes at dinner were truly outstanding. The quality of the ingredients really came through, and each dish was prepared with great care—easily the best memory of this trip. Beautiful design: The Room interior and overall design were excellent, allowing me to spend a luxurious time in a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Convenience of the in-room Onsen: The Onsen in the Room was always at the perfect temperature, and being able to bathe whenever I wanted felt wonderfully indulgent. [Suggestions for improvement / requests] About the outdoor pool: Since it is not heated in winter, I couldn’t use it and could only admire it from afar, which was a bit disappointing. I would be happy if there were some way to make use of it even during winter. Breakfast content: Because dinner was so luxurious and impressive, breakfast felt a little simple by comparison. I hope for a breakfast with more variety or a special touch that matches the quality of dinner. Checkout flexibility: Standard checkout is 10:00, which feels slightly early. As this was a three-night Multiple Night Stay, I requested late checkout until 11:00; however, I was told an additional fee (4,400 yen) would apply. As a longer-stay guest, that felt somewhat disappointing. If there were more flexibility or preferential treatment for guests staying multiple nights—such as allowing some extra time—it could further improve guest satisfaction. [Overall] Although I noted some small points above, overall I am very satisfied and have become a fan of this Accommodation. I look forward to visiting again next time.
