After staying at Mirage for two nights, we chose this place for the final day. The view was excellent, it was quiet, and we slept well. We’ve stayed at many Hotels across the whole country, but I usually can’t sleep well and had almost given up—so I was surprised that I slept soundly at both Mirage properties. The cart was a bit difficult until we got used to it because the roads were hard to follow, but it was a lot of fun. Since we had a rental car, I didn’t think we needed it much, but I wish we had used it from the first day. All the staff were kind; the only disappointment was the lounge.

As soon as we entered the Room, we were amazed by the view! The ocean was right in front of us! The balcony was so relaxing, and we spent our time enjoying the sweeping panorama and listening to the sound of the waves. At night especially, the moonlight reflecting on the sea was

Throughout our stay, we could feel the Accommodation’s pride and dignity in every detail, and it was a truly fulfilling experience. First, what deserves special mention is the thoroughness of the Room cleaning. Everything was carefully arranged down to the smallest detail, and the spotless space—without a speck of dust—made us feel that the fundamentals of an Accommodation were being upheld at an exceptionally high standard. We were also deeply impressed by the grace of the attendant’s service. Though she was young, she wore traditional attire, moved quietly with no wasted motion, and spoke with gentle refinement. In each gesture we sensed a polished spirit of hospitality; imagining how much effort she must have put in even brought tears to my eyes. (This old man is easily moved.) And above all, what was most outstanding was the exceptional quality of the cuisine. With generous use of premium ingredients, every aspect—the presentation, depth of flavor, and expression of seasonality—was superb. More than anything, I felt that what sustains this high level of service—and its true cornerstone—is the proprietress’s attitude. She consistently leads from the front, encouraging and guiding her staff. I was profoundly moved. These days, Accommodations like this are becoming rare. My wife and I are already talking about returning again in autumn. This is a genuinely outstanding Accommodation where you can experience Japan’s traditional beauty and refined elegance without exaggeration.

With a dedicated concierge service, they carefully confirmed even the smallest details with us before our stay, so we were able to arrive feeling completely at ease. The meals were delicious, and the thoughtful presentation and ambiance made for a truly romantic time. The guest room was spacious, warm, and comfortable—a place where we could genuinely relax. In addition, the partnered strawberry picking and afternoon tea were excellent, making the entire stay incredibly enjoyable and memorable. My long-held wish to stay here during cherry blossom season finally came true. The cherry blossoms right in front of me were soothing, and I was moved by the beautifully illuminated garden and the moonlit night. The host and all the staff were wonderful—warm, attentive, and made my stay very comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, featuring plenty of seafood. (They kindly made rice with conger eel that I couldn’t finish into rice balls, which I enjoyed later as a tasty late-night snack.) This is a truly wonderful Accommodation that I would love to visit again in another season.

It was truly a wonderful stay. On my first trip to Toyama, I must admit I wasn’t familiar with Makinooto, but I found it on IKYU and made a Reservation—and it turned out to be an unforgettable, lovely experience. The view from the Room was a peaceful rural landscape; the cherry blossoms were at their best, and the daffodils were charming as well. After relaxing in the lobby atmosphere and taking my time checking in, I found the Room spacious and perfectly appointed—nothing lacking, nothing excessive—and I could truly unwind. The food was flawless. I honestly want to come back again soon (laugh). I was also able to relax in the bath, and everything was just wonderful. With its gentle, unhurried charm that’s hard to put into words, it truly soothed my heart. Also, the cherry blossoms at Mukaino—just a short walk from the Accommodation—were in full bloom as well. I stopped by on my way home, and several locals were there taking photos; chatting with them made it an especially memorable trip. To all of your staff—the chef and the proprietress as well—thank you very much for everything.

This was the perfect accommodation, thoughtfully designed for guests to relax and enjoy their stay. We stayed in a detached room with a private bath, and everything about the room—its spaciousness, cleanliness, view, and amenities—was exceptional. For those who find it uncomf

The staff's hospitality, the room's view, the onsen, and the meals were all exceptional! We stayed in a Sunset View room and were soothed by the beautiful ocean scenery from our room. From the dining area, you can enjoy delicious meals while admiring the stunning ocean view.

It was an extremely satisfying stay! The front desk staff were very polite and gentle in their manner, making us feel at ease from the moment we arrived. The Room was very clean and spacious, so comfortable that you’ll want to stay for as many days as possible. (A luxurious time—listening to jazz from a CD player with a vacuum-tube amplifier while enjoying coffee made from beans I ground myself.) Hakodate Ropeway and the Red Brick Warehouses are also within walking distance, making this a Hotel with no weak points in any direction. My only concern is that the accommodation rates may keep rising in the future, but I believe it’s a Hotel worth that price. We don’t visit Hakodate very often, but if we have the chance to go again, our whole family has vowed to stay here without fail. Thank you.

It was very quiet, and I was able to relax and take my time. This time, I was able to soak in the Onsen while it was snowing, which was very soothing. I would like to visit again.

Breakfast offered both Japanese and Western options individually tailored—a perfect touch of luxury. Just before checking out, Mount Fuji appeared again as if bidding us farewell—it truly made this an unforgettable stay. I highly recommend this accommodation as an absolute must

This was our first return visit in almost a year. From check-in—starting with their thanks for our previous stay—through checkout the next day, every staff member provided hospitality-filled service. Thank you very much. We stayed in a sea-facing Room different from last year’s, and we definitely preferred this type. The bath, adjusted in advance to our requested temperature, was spacious enough for two adults to stretch out and relax, warming us through to the core. The bed’s backrest is designed to make watching TV comfortable—nothing to fault there. The motion-sensor toilet is also step-free and very comfortable. We were extremely satisfied with this Boso spiny lobster-focused Plan. The sashimi was wonderfully springy; the grilled dish was delicious even with just the lobster miso; and everything through the golden simmered dish and takikomi rice fully showcased the lobster’s appeal. The only meat dish, roast beef, was very tender, and both the opening soup and final soup had rich dashi flavor—no complaints at all. For breakfast, their signature namero featured Spanish mackerel; it was gentle, smooth, and thoroughly enjoyable. The services that make this an ideal stay-in Accommodation are outstanding: a free coffee machine on the first floor; 2L mineral water in the fridge (something you rarely see elsewhere); and turning leftover dinner rice into onigiri. They also allow you to bring in wine at reasonable fees, so next time we’d like to bring a favorite bottle. As one of the rare Accommodations that offers in-room dining, we hope to continue staying here for years to come.

It was a pity that we couldn't use the dog run due to the rain, but since we have a small dog, the Room was spacious enough for it to run around. The Room was very clean and tidy. It was well-maintained, with thoughtful touches like plastic bags in the trash bins. We would love to visit again. The sea is also very close by. Hopefully, it will be sunny next time!
